Deschutes Day trips Are Available all season long!

A client with a nice rainbow on a Deschutes River guided fly fishing trip.A Deschutes River day float is a great option for those looking to experience the Deschutes and don't have the time or resources to take on an overnight adventure. All our Deschutes River guide trips start at the Deschutes River Fly Shop and Camp across from the river on Hwy 26 just a few miles south of the Warm Springs boat ramp, our put in for all the day trips. Many anglers and clients come over the night prior and either camp out or rent our cabin rental to be onsite prior to their trip. The day float is from Warm Springs to Trout Creek. This is a 10 mile float into a very scenic boat in only section of the Deschutes. There is a ton of great water on this stretch for both trout and steelhead, and the scenery is rugged and beautiful.

The Season Kicks off with a Bang with the Salmonfly Hatch!

A salmonfly hatching on the Deschutes! The Deschutes Salmonfly hatch is world reknown and anglers come long and far to experience what is the best dry fly fishing of the season! The hatch comes off in the spring, timing depends on water temperature and snow pack, though May is the month! This is hands down the busiest time of year on the river, for good reason. You can't beat throwing large dry flies to hungry trout! Big takes and exciting fishing is the norm!

The fun does not end there though as the caddis hatch is next providing good fishing for trout through the rest of the summer. June and July can provide epic dry fly days, especially when it's hot out! The summer months are not as busy on the river as the spring, and at times you can feel like you have the Deschutes all to yourself!

Day trips for steelhead trips are ran on this section of river from September through November, when these turbo charged, sea going rainbow trout return to natal spawning grounds!
